Dr. Israa Mahmood
Dr. Israa is passionate about her profession. She loves creating beautiful smiles and is focused on helping her patients better understand the benefits of preventive dentistry and the importance of good oral hygiene. Dr. Israa obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Baghdad University College of Dentistry. Furthermore, she completed her post-graduate diploma in prosthodontics from the same university before she moved to Dubai and began working in ministry of health. Besides practicing dentistry, she worked as clinical instructor in two dental school in UAE. She completed the MFD exams of Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ireland. After moving to Canada, she received her Canadian National Dental Examining Board Certification.
Continuing education is important to Dr. Israa, when she came to Canada, she has completed additional training courses in Sedation Dentistry, Invisalign, Medical Emergencies and obtained an Ontario certificate in Oral Sedation & Nitrous Oxide Sedation. She is also a member of Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and Ontario dental association.
Her areas of focus include aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry, including crowns and bridges, veneers, and dentures, as well as pain control with relaxation techniques and nitrous oxide sedation. Her practice includes endodontic and pediatric dentistry. Dr. Israa has special experience dealing with seniors and patients with severe anxiety during dental treatment.
During her free time, Dr. Israa enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and biking.
Volunteer Activity
In her spare time, Dr. Israa works on her Facebook page to help families in Arabic countries, writing articles and some strategies to aid them in training and educating their kids with autism. She has more than 52,000 followers from different Arabic speaking countries. She presented lectures and workshops when she was living in United Arab Emirates, and when she moved to Canada, she kept in touch with all the families in these different Arabic speaking countries via her Facebook page, and stayed up to date with them and with recent studies in Autism.
Dr. Israa got a Shield of Honor from RAK Autism Center in United Arab Emirates for her Volunteer activity in educating mothers about autism spectrum disorder and received many certificates of appreciation for her presentation about autism awareness in UAE and Iraq.
Recently Dr. Israa presented a survey study about Autism at the Dubai Autism Conference, and her study published in the International Journal of Psychological and Behavioral Sciences.
